Installation & Setup
Welcome to the Aurora theme documentation. This guide will walk you through the installation process and initial setup to get your WooCommerce store up and running quickly.
First, download the theme files from your Templatehub account. Navigate to Appearance > Themes in your WordPress dashboard and click 'Add New'. Upload the `aurora.zip` file and activate the theme.
After activation, you will be prompted to install the recommended plugins, including WooCommerce. Follow the on-screen instructions to install and activate them. This is a crucial step for the theme to function correctly.
Theme Customization
Aurora uses the native WordPress Customizer for all theme options. You can access it by navigating to Appearance > Customize. Here you can control the layout, colors, typography, and more.
To change the primary color, go to Colors > General. You can select a predefined color or enter your own hex code. All elements on the site will automatically inherit this color.
/* Example CSS for custom color override */
.site-header {
background-color: #f8f9fa;
}WooCommerce Integration
Aurora is designed to work seamlessly with WooCommerce. All shop pages, product details, and checkout processes are styled to match the theme's aesthetic.
Ensure you have the latest version of WooCommerce installed and activated. The theme will automatically apply its styles. You can find WooCommerce settings under the 'WooCommerce' menu in your WordPress dashboard.
Product Page Layouts
Choose from multiple product page layouts to best showcase your products. Navigate to Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Single Product to find layout options.
You can adjust the position of the image gallery, enable or disable tabs, and show related products in different styles.
Performance Optimization
We've built Aurora with performance in mind. The theme includes options for lazy loading images, minifying CSS and JS, and deferring non-critical scripts.
These settings can be found in Appearance > Customize > Performance. We recommend using a caching plugin for best results.
SEO Settings
Aurora has built-in SEO features like breadcrumbs and schema markup for products. For advanced SEO, we recommend using a dedicated plugin like Yoast SEO or Rank Math.
The theme is fully compatible with these plugins and will follow their recommendations for titles, meta descriptions, and more.
Blog Customization
Customize your blog layout from Appearance > Customize > Blog. Choose from different archive styles (grid, list, classic) and single post layouts.
You can also control the visibility of post meta like author, date, and categories.
Using Shortcodes
The theme includes several useful shortcodes for adding elements like buttons, alerts, and grids to your pages and posts.
An example of a button shortcode is: `[aurora_button text="Click Me" link="#" style="primary"]`. You can find a full list of shortcodes in the theme documentation.
Translating Your Theme
Aurora is fully translatable and compatible with plugins like WPML and Polylang. The theme includes a `.pot` file in the `/languages/` directory.
You can use a program like Poedit to create your own language files (`.po` and `.mo`) and translate the theme into your desired language.
Child Theme Setup
We strongly recommend using a child theme if you plan to make any code customizations. This ensures that your changes are not lost when you update the parent theme.
A pre-made child theme is included in your download package. Simply install and activate it like any other theme. You can then add your custom CSS and PHP to the child theme's files.
